Everything we do leads up to that moment when the speaker takes the stage. The set is beautifully designed, lighting is perfect, music is on point, the audience is ready … and then the moment of truth.
At Bartha, we work with presenters to provide the support they need to shine on stage, including scriptwriting. Some clients develop their scripts internally; others choose professional scriptwriting support.
The Sweet Spot
“Sometimes people are cautious to use an outside resource for scripting because they think it won’t be in the right voice, or not sound on-brand. That’s not the case when you choose the right person for the job,” said Mitch Jacobs, Bartha’s Creative Director.
As a longtime scriptwriter, Rebecca Hamilton works with speakers in a wide array of industries to define, hone, and deliver their presentations effectively.
“There’s a sweet spot,” she said. “When the script feels and sounds like the speaker, they can relax and deliver with impact because it’s their own words and ideas, written in their style and cadence. The audience feels that authenticity.
“When it’s a canned speech – I’m looking at you, AI – it can fall flat. We’ve all heard hollow presentations where it’s obvious the speaker is just reading. That could be a lack of rehearsal or preparation, or it may be time to work with someone focused on live scripting full-time.”
Pre-show and Onsite Support
When clients opt for a scriptwriter with us, we ensure that the writer is part of the entire process. In advance of the show, the writer works extensively to capture the speaker’s voice and message, then coaches and rehearses with them remotely.
Onsite, they manage all scripting, participate in rehearsals, work with graphics to confirm alignment, ensure all edits are captured in the teleprompter, and catch anything that may be affected by rehearsal edits. For instance, an edit made to one session may affect the messaging in another. Because our scriptwriter has a global view of the show, they can easily catch any inconsistencies created by last-minute edits, providing crucial continuity in messaging.
“We owe it to the audience, the client, and each speaker to make sure they are fully prepared and ready to rock their message on stage,” Jacobs said. “Having a pro on board to develop and manage scripting takes the show to the next level.”
