Animation and Projection Create a Vibrant City
Experience Columbus promotes and sells Ohio’s energetic capitol city as a destination for tourism, conventions and other major events. The organization hosts an annual meeting early each spring to celebrate the city’s tourism and convention successes and share plans to bolster its opportunities for continued future growth as a meetings and events destination.
Bartha has a long-standing relationship with Experience Columbus and has supported the annual meeting with creative vision and technical expertise for more than a decade. For this year’s event, the Bartha team designed a set inspired by a portion of the city’s skyline. Each “building” of the set was a custom-built screen on which animated versions of the buildings were projected. Additional projection surfaces were added between the buildings to support graphic and video content, also produced by Bartha.
Throughout the program, the set was active with a series of different looks created by Bartha’s in-house animators, culminating with a purple-hued “looping nighttime look” that had downtown’s Scioto River reflecting off the buildings’ windows. It was a grand vision for the set and the Bartha team did an amazing job of bringing it to life.
