United Methodist Women Assembly 2014
Assembly of United Methodist Women, April 2014
Kentucky International Convention Center, Louisville, Kentucky
Worship space, interactive experiences, general session, 48 breakouts – and a keynote delivered by a former U.S. Secretary of State – streaming live, with an emphasis on greener production practices.
Bartha delivered all that and more for the 2014 Assembly of United Methodist Women.
The three-day assembly hosts 6,000 members and is live-streamed to an additional 800,000 members across the country.
National Political Speaker
Former U.S. Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, herself a United Methodist, volunteered to deliver the assembly’s keynote address. Our experience with all levels of security – including presidential – enabled us to effectively partner with the client and the Secret Service on the process of working with a national security attachment.
In the absence of archival footage, Bartha animated several stories of women instrumental in the rich social justice heritage of the UMW in a video series. This treatment brought the inspiring stories forward in an engaging, contemporary manner that the client called the highlight of the event.
In the hands-on experience hall, attendees had access to duplicable tools that they could use to take the Assembly experience back to their home parishes – extending the life of the event through smaller, more intimate gatherings.
We consulted with a green-initiative company and saved approximately nine cubic tons of carbon by custom-designing greener lighting treatments, using recycled materials for sets, and repurposing those elements after the event. This initiative dovetails beautifully with UMW’s socially-conscious philosophies and traditions.
